Cecil Carney
Cecil Carney joined Kemmons Wilson in 2000 and currently serves as President of Private Investments and CFO, focusing on private equity, real estate, and financing activities for KWC. In addition to providing underwriting, diligence, and operational oversight for KWC’s operating businesses, he also leverages his hospitality experience to lead financing activities and serve on the investment committee for KWHP (Kemmons Wilson Hospitality Partners).
Cecil graduated from Christian Brothers University with honors in 1988 and has spent most of his career in the hospitality sector. Prior to joining KWC in 2000, Cecil’s previous experiences include hospitality audit experience as senior auditor at Arthur Andersen, leisure resort experience as VP Controller at Orange Lake Resorts (predecessor to KWC’s portfolio company, Holiday Inn Club Vacations), and hotel franchise and management experience as Senior Director of strategy planning and business development at Promus Hotels.
Cecil’s professional board involvements include former fintech portfolio companies, Zephyr Associates and Imagineer Technology Group, and present roles across diverse industries which include Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Peak+, Wiseacre, Central BBQ, and KWHP.
Cecil’s philanthropic efforts include working with two inner-city elementary schools, serving in board roles at Memphis Delta Preparatory Charter School and St. Paul Catholic School, which allows him to pursue his passion of equalizing opportunities for the youth in Memphis.
Married and father of three children, Cecil enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family, whether it’s playing tennis or hanging out at the beach.
